Just remember, Enzo Ferrari got his start setting up and fielding Alfa Romeo race cars, and for a time, Scuderia Ferrari was the official works team for Alfa Romeo, when they withdrew their in-house team from 1933 to 1938, after which Alfa hired Enzo as the head of their racing department.
So, a Ferrari shield on an Alfa Romeo...yeah, that makes a LOT of sense, actually.

Exactly. That shield is for the race team, which raced Alfa Romeos.

Came here to post this, but didn’t find your reply until I came up with a reply. So....
Before there was Ferrari the manufacturer, there was Ferrari the team owner, and before that, there was Ferrari the race driver.
That image from Goodwood is an Alfa Romeo Tipo B P3 Scuderia from his race team.
Here’s one in 2010
Enzo told the story of the prancing horse, which before it was a symbol on his cars, and before it was a symbol on his team, was a symbol on an airplane.
The horse was painted on the fuselage of the fighter plane of Francesco Baracca — a heroic airman of the first world war. In ’23, I met count Enrico Baracca, the hero’s father, and then his mother, countess Paulina, who said to me one day, ‘Ferrari, put my son’s prancing horse on your cars. It will bring you good luck’. The horse was, and still is, black, and I added the canary yellow background which is the colour of Modena.
-Enzo Ferrari

Had you considered that they might be referring to the Scuderia Ferrari owner, Enzo Ferrari? Seeing as they ran Alfa Romeo cars before he starting building his own cars?

It seems some Italian racing driver said once that there is only one true God, which is Alfa Romeo; and Ferrari is Its prophet.
Or words to that effect
.

So this was a legit Alfa race car managed by Enzo Ferrari back in the day?
